When the Dallas area was being colonized by American pioneers a lot of the settlers traveled by wagon trains along the old Shawnee Trail. This trail was used to drive cattle northward out of Austin. Over the years this trail became known as the Preston Trail and then later as Preston Road. With all of the activity, the community of Lebanon was founded here along the trail and granted a post office in 1860. In 1902 a line of the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway was being built through the area and periodic watering holes were needed along the rails for the steam engines. The current settlement of lebanon was on the Preston Ridge and was a bit too high of an elevation. A community grew around the train stop. The residents chose the name Frisco City to remember the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway on which the town was founded.
