Carrolton is a city in Denton County, Dallas County, and Collin County, in the US State of Texas. In 2005 the census estimated 122,699 people living within the Carrolton city limits. Carrolton is a suburb of Dallas. The city of Carrolton has been named in America's Top 200 Places to Live for 2006 by Relocate America. Also, In 2006 Carrolton was selected as the 19th best place to live in the United States by Money Magazine. Then it was later named the 15th best place to live in 2008 by Money Magazine.

History

The area was originally settles by Jared Ford in 1842 by William and Mary Larner on a site within the Peters' Colony grant. In 1844, the A.W. Perry family claimed land in the area around Trinity Mills and in partnership with Wade Witt they established a mill. The English colony consisted of a group of families, most of whom were originally from Carrollton, Illinois. This is most likely where the name originated from.
