Arlington, a city within Tarrant County and the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex. According to the Census Bureau in 2007, Arlington had an estimated population of 371,038. Arlington in the seventh largest city in Texas and the 50th largest city in the US. Arlington is located east of downtown Fort Worth and west of downtown Dallas. This city is home to the Texas Rangers' Ballpark in Arlington and the theme parks Six Flags Over Texas, Hurricane Harbor, and the newly completed Dallas Cowboys Stadium. The city borders Kennedale, Grand Prairie, Mansfield, and Fort Worth. Arlington surrounds the smaller computers of Dalworthington Gardens and Pantego. Arlington is the largest city in the world without a fixed bus route system of mass transit.
White settlement in the Arlington area dates back at least to the 1840s. After May of 1841 and the battle between Texas General Tarrant (who Tarrant Count is named after) and the Native Americans of the Village Creek settlement, a trading post was built at Marrow Bone Spring in the Arlington that we know today.
